Just a quick note before heading out the door to yet another 5k race this morning. My sister and I have half-jokingly stated that we’re becoming obsessed with these 5ks, but they’re just so fun. It’s a little like waking up on Christmas morning. You know. Rolling out of bed. No makeup. Excitement, adrenaline in the air.
Of course, without breakfast, there is no race. 😉
Along with being obsessed with 5k races, I’m also obsessed with blueberries.
They’re in season right now…grab ’em while you still can!
1/4 cup oatbran
1 cup silk coconut milk
cinnamon
1/2 c. blueberries
Oatbran + Milk + Cinnamon: cook in microwave for 5 minutes, stir, and top with blueberries
I like to keep my 5k breakfasts semi-light feeling, and then follow it with a heavier snack post-race. But if you’re looking for a breakfast to keep you full all morning long, add in some almond butter or sunflower seeds or walnuts.
And there you have it. A breakfast of champions. Or at least a breakfast worthy of running a 5k. 😉

QUESTION: What is your favorite summer-time fruit?
“Rolling out of bed. No makeup.” What if I was really bad and rolled out of bed ‘with’ my makeup? Ha! It’s just that I was too tired to wash my face before bed last night. Ugh, I know, SO bad! But that being said I’M SO EXCITED! 🙂
Haha…been there, done that!
My favorite summer fruit has to be nectarines!
Mmm…so good!!! Summer seriously has the best fruit (although autumn apples are pretty good too. 😀 )
Blueberries are right up there for me…tied with peaches. I never want summer to end! Enjoy your race. 🙂
Me neither! I love autumn, but summer is my kind of style. 😀
What are the chances I can convince you and your sister to do the Hot Chocolate 5k/15k in Chicago in November? I haven’t registered yet, but I’m about 99% sure my sister and I are doing it. It looks like lots of fun. You need an excuse to go to Chicago right?
